It’s considered to be an impulse control disorder (i.e. a type of mental disorder), where one feels pleasure from setting fires. It’s kinda like people who compulsively gamble or compulsively shoplift or (and this is a controversial one) compulsively have sex. It’s different from pyrophilia, because the gratification in the latter is a sexual pleasure.
