Which should you put in first - the water or the instant coffee?

Somebody just told me that you shouldn’t put your coffee in your cup first because the boiling water then burns it? Is this true and should I start putting the water in first.

For instant coffee? I put it in first, I feel like it helps to mix it better.

I put in milk and coffee first, it tastes better to me. The boiling water does actually burn it and sometimes gives it a stronger taste, so it depends on what you prefer.

Burns it?…I use a machine that steams ground up coffee ,steam is hotter than kettle water is`nt it?So if one form of coffee can take it i would have thought all forms could?but i dont know.
