Puppy swim?

Do all dogs know how to swim? My older dog who is 2 (maile westie) can swim but prefers to paddel around. Havent introduced my 7 month old to the river yet. Do all dogs like the water? Any way to approach this as I dont want her to fear the river as she hates having a shower lol

Our Westie liked to paddle around in the lake…but detested a bath…

I had a Pit/Rottie/Lab cross who detested water in any form…

I’ve always done it like Harley…with me and the dog on a leash in the water…talking them in, and immediatly releasing them to go to shore…then doing it again and again. Dogs who like water, won’t have to be talked into it after the 3rd or 4th time…they’ll go on their own.

most dogs like to swim but not all of them like to! dogs aren’t scared of water so you could take your puppy down the river. if it wants to go in, then it will, if it doesn’t it wont but it doesnt matter either way. I have a dog thats about 13 years old now and it doesnt really swim but when it has to it does, occasionally he wants to :). hope this helped! x

No not all dog know how to swim, common mistake people make, you need to let them go in on there terms and slow. you need to have them on a leash and be in the water with them . Any breed of dog can drown at anytime.
