Which is the proper wording: I always had or I had always?

yea.. no so good in english please help!

Answer #1

Try using have, I have always.

Answer #2

Thanks!

Answer #3

I have had or I have always had

Answer #4

For simple present or simple past you write: I always have/had you. For Present or past perfect you write: I have always talked to her or I had always talked to her. :-)

Answer #5

Kayleexo, it is impossible to say which phrase is “proper” in isolation. They can both be correct, but they say different things.

“I always had too much curiosity for my own good.”

“I had always wanted to skydive, until I fell off a ladder.”

“I have always wanted to skydive, and now I can.”

When you ask about correct usage, you need to say the full context you want to use it in.

Answer #6

The problem with this is that it doesn’t mean the same thing as I had always or I always had. One is “past perfect” (the action was completed before some specified time in the past); the other is “present perfect” (the action occurred at an unspecified time before now)
