Promise ring

a promise ring goes on your ring finger of your left hand…the promise ring is a sign of devotion to you and the person who gives it to you…it’s saying “one day we’ll be married.”

A promise ring means that they promise to one day ask you to marry them. My boyfriend and I looked at promise rings and the ones I liked said the couples names had each of their birthstone and on the band said Always & Forever.

Actually a true promise ring, is given to a friend or a loved one. You are not suppose to buy it for yourself. It’s a sign that says they’ll be loyal to you always, they care for you and so forth, it’s not an engagement ring or anything of that sort. I’ve worked in a jewelery store and I learned a lot about the rings. You also wear it different ways. Face the crown towards you, with the heart and hands out, your single. Face the hands and heart towards you, your taken.

In terms of a relationship, it represents a promise you are making to the person you are giving it to. This promise is usually the step that comes before an engagement ring. You are promising the person your time, and you can specify the length of time, which in most cases represents around a year. It is traditionally given in high school with the promise of “I’m yours til graduation day.” After graduation, the “promise” may be extended if one person or the other does not feel ready for an engagement. In that case, the next “promise” is another year, or until college graduation. Hope this helps :)
