Program to shrink Files

Is there a program or software that shrink your movie files into mp4,mkv and avi ? Is there one that shrinks the program to its smallest but still have good quality to watch (meaning thick block colors) ? Which program is the best to use for movie file’s ?

You can use rar, or other types of compression (eg, tar, zip, etc)…however, none of those will make a smaller file that’s still watchable, you’ll need to decompress it before viewing. However if you’re just trying to make sure yo don’t fill your hard drive, then *rar is a good way to go.
