Professional Makeup Artist!
Ok im planning on going to the Empire Beauty School in Newyork, Newyork. I was wondering, how do you get jobs on movie/tv sets. I want to be A makeup artist!
You need to have a natural flair for it and practise practise practise. I did a makeup artistry course a few years ago. I learned a lot of valuable skills but I could not get work as there are very little jobs and so many people wanting to do it. I worked for free at expo’s and demonstrations and did makeup for my sister’s prom & all her friends. I took photos of before and after and developed it into a portfolio. This is important in being able to show your work to potential clients. But getting work on a movie set will be difficult. You will be up against the best in the business as movies require precise detail with makeup application. There is also the special effects makeup training you will need to take. This can be very tricky and you only get good at it from practising. As well as having a portfolio it is cruicial to get your name out there as it can often be about who you know rather than what you know, to get your foot in the door.
