What products are best for protecting your hair from straightening and curling it?

can be a spray, oli, shampoo, idk any of that…ect…thx!

Answer #1

It doesn’t really matter what products you use. I find that the heat from the curler/straightner still damages your hair either way. I’ve used the sprays before and they haven’t worked on me. Everyone has different hair though so what works on me, might not work on you. I suggest you go with the natural ways first. For straightening your hair, find the right shampoo that is suitable for your hair. Matrix Sleek Shampoo works pretty well. Theres also the Sunsilk Straight Up. Serums work really well too. For curling, you can use paper bags to curl your hair. You don’t need to use any products and it doesn’t damage your hair. Experiment with different products to find the one that works for you best. :)

You NEED a protection spray. When you hold heat to your hair, it fries out all of the moisture in the hair… 100% of the moisture is gone- this is what will make your hair dry, and very prone to snapping. Cheap brands will only coat your hair in silicone, or some other cheap crappy crap. Redken is a fantastic range of products- we used to use them religiously at one of the Salons I worked at for a while. I highly recommend a redken heat protector.

There’s not really a certain product that prevents hair damage if you straighten or curly it because heat tends to leaves a lot of damage and gives you split ends but something you can do to avoid too much damage is by not straighting/curling it daily, maybe blowdrying your hair and putting it up in a bun three times a week will help take care of your hair or trimming three inches to get rid of split ends once every couple months.

ok thanks you guys, i’ll try Redken, how much are the bottles and can i get them at any stores like target, walmart, sally’s beuty suply…ect?

I don’t straiten my hair that often, maybe like once a week (it takes too long) i just wanted to make sure i dont fry my hair when i do, cause i’ve seen some of my friends hair who do it regularily without protective spray and they have narly split ends.
