How to be sure that my dog is pregnant?

My dog dug her way out of fenced yard while in heat, was gone about an hour or so. She had to be watched the rest of heat cycle, trying to get loose a lot. There was a male dog that came by house a few times , even peed on my front door. Its been 64 days since she was loose, no puppies yet. Is it a false pregnancy? She has milk from nipples, they are really swollen, her belly is only a little. Her attitude has been different for the last 2 months. Thought I’d save my money for vet if she had puppies, being right after X-mas. Can they even tell at this point without x rays or ultrasounds? I now want puppies, and am bummed if its a false pregnancy-which my husband is sure it is…

Answer #2

The only way you will know for sure, is to have a vet examine her and take x-rays, to see if she does have any puppies! They will be able to tell you for sure. As Far as the cost, I think each vet is different! Call the vet that you take her to and ask them what they charge.

Well, if it’s been 64 days since she got loose, you’ll have pups anytime within the next couple of days…

If she gets to 74 days, then I’d take her to the vets for a hormone shot to help her body come out the false pregancy…

hey there you can try putting your hand in her belly sometimes you can feel the pups kicking or just moving around in there so try it and let me know what you feel ok. :)

Answer #6

Why do you want puppies? I work at an animal shelter in a county where 2,000 dogs and cats are put to sleep every week because there are just too many animals and not enough good homes. Even if you found all of the puppies a home, that is taking possible homes away from the millions of dogs and cats that sit homeless in shelters every day. Please get your animal spayed.

if you live in england take your dog to the PDSA they will examine your dog for a small fee which is a donation. I dont know why other countries have this cause it helps a lot of dogs survive a lot of ailments and suffering for nothing just because they cant afford to pay. sometimes people just dont have the money at the right time.

I think the best way is to take her to the vet
