I agree with pmg - girls and women DO have a limited period each month when they are fertile, so in theory there are safe periods. The problem is, each person is individual, and the ‘safe period’ can even vary from one month to another.

For couples who would prefer not to have a baby just yet, but where getting pregnant wouldn’t cause problems, it may be OK to reply on the ‘safe period’ approach. But not if you really want to avoid getting your girl pregnant.
