That’s really, really normal actually. I don’t think I slept more than 5 hours a night when I was in my 2nd trimester… Energy all of the time; but then I’d crash and need to sleep during the day.

You can try taking a bath (at this stage in your pregnancy, it’s not really dangerous to soak in a warm bath- as long as it’s not TOO hot), they make pregnancy-safe relaxation teas, I used to pop in a movie or watch tv on the couch. You can get a cd of nature sounds- sometimes they help.

Exercise by going for a walk once or twice during the day (bonus- that’ll keep you and baby healthy, lower blood pressure, get your food moving, and can help prevent pregnancy constipation) will often drain just enough energy from you to help your body AND mind relax.

Swimming also wore me out! I’d go swimming for an hour or so at a time, then come home, shower, and I’d be unconscious for several hours. If all else fails- Tylenol PM is safe to take during pregnancy (and works beautifully), though you should ALWAYS consult your doctor before taking any non-prescribed medication.

it does not get any better. I am 38 weeks, well 8o days from my due date, I DON”T sleep worth sh*t. I try to not take naps, hot shower. It just is the fact I cannot get comfortable and I get up to pee a lot, plus I have carpal tunnel syndrome. So good luck and I hope you get your rest.
