At the risk of sounding stupid... can a cat stay pregnant, or become pregnant after being spayed. It sounds illogical to me but my cat is showing many signs of pregnancy but was spayed about two months ago.
If your dog is acting like this toward a ball, it would make her an awesome foster mother. She obviously has all the right instincts! After my cats were spayed, they returned to being kittens (there again, they had each had a litter and were barely 12 months themselves). On the topic though. One of my girls is so looking like she's pregnant and it's been three if not four years since the spaying. She had an abortion before she was spayed, anyone know if there's a chance they botched it up?
At the hospital I work at when we spay everything comes out. The uterine horns and the uterius. All is take out in one Peice. So I agree with P, if your cat was spayed and she has babies, I would demand my money back
To Thenameisiess- Cats are induced ovulatious. This means they are in heat pretty much all the time and sex with a male stimulates the rest of the command to follow, So to answer your question NO they are not still fertile because everything was taken out.
I'm reading this with great interest. I own a dog that thinks she had a puppy. She was only spayed a few days ago. My thought is that the experience of being spayed could be what my dog could have mistaken for giving birth? Is this a possibility? She now lovingly looks after a football shaped ball as if it was her puppy, carrying it, washing it, always going back to her bed to sit with it!
No they cannot get pregnant after being spayed...If your cat has kittens, then I'd demand my money back from the Vet...(lets face it, it can't be a botched spay...so not spaying would have been intentional...)...and I'd be very mad.

On the other hand, 'false pregnancy' is also possible - the cat can have all the symptoms of pregnancy, for weeks on end ... but no kittens. One of mine had that shortly after she was (successfully) spayed.
It could be a phantom pregnancy, where your cat thinks that she is pregnant when she isn't.
Aren't animals still fertile for a certain number of days after pregnancy.
Hope this helped!
:)
Please let me know if you find out because my cat is looking pregnant too, she got spayed at peta so I'm not sure how they do things.
My friend's cat is doing the same thing. Unfortunatly, I have no clue. But when you find out, Let me know! Thanxx.
