How do people get arthritis?

the doc. said my mom has it and theres NOTHING that will make it go away?

Answer #1

you get it by continuesly popping/cracking or moving your hands or limbs in certain ways that they wouldnt be able to do normally (im pretty sure that is how you get it)

Answer #2

My Mom has it too. Its actually not that uncommon, sadly.

Answer #3

I have that, my doc says its cuz of injuries I have had to my knee and ankle

Answer #4

I heard that popping or cracking your knuckles actually does not cause arthritis…

I don’t think it can be completely cured, but there are ways to relieve the pain.

Answer #5

my mom loves to go to cas.ino and crack along with her bitchy friends that’s why she has arthritis so someday she can just stay at home and live normal.

Answer #6

Depends on the type. The most common kind, which is osteroarthritis is something that develops most commonly through limb usage over time. Where your bones articulate, they are covered in cartilage which reduces friction between the bones when you move. Over time, this cartilage wears away which results in considerable pain with movevment. Rhematoid arthritus is caused by the immune system and gout is due to the build-up of uric acid crystals and seems to be largely genetic.

Answer #7

Arthritis is not a single condition but a group of conditions that cause inflammation in the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where the body’s own defenses attack joint tissues. Osteoarthritis is more wear and tear of the joints over the years. Gout is the accumulation of Uric acid crystals in joints and is related to diet though there is a hereditary element to it. There are also other less common types of arthritis.

Answer #8

I have heard from scientists at my university studying gout that infact it may not really be related to diet at all, and much more due to genetics. Its a pretty big area of research hear because of how prone Maori and other pacific islanders are to gout. Early Maori skeletons show evidence of gout, even though their diets at that time wouldnt be considered to put them at risk. I dont know too much about it, as the people researching it seem to be mostly the biochemists and biological anthropologists who I dont have much to do with but its all quite interesting.
