How to know you have potential at volleyaball, or anything in general?

I’m SO CONFUSED with my life right now and as a standpoint of a highschooler, I want some advice as to how to know if I have potential at anything. I didn’t make the high school volleyball team, and that made me question what are my priorities in life. I want to do something I have potential in. This is something I have cried about a lot and I haven’t gotten good advice really. Please help me, and be elaborate. Whatever you say will be strongly considered in my life prioritizing.

Take this from someone who’s been through some crazy things in life. The fact that you are a highschooler, by itself, screams that you are FULL of potential. You have your whole life ahead of you. And yes, that’s probably something that you’ve heard too many times before but, it’s SO true! High school is a tough time, especially with all the peer pressure and the decision making you have to do about what you want to do for the rest of your life. Who you want to be, etc. Who the heck knows? We all have some sort of an ‘idea’ a ‘vision’ of who we want to be and what we want to do, but the truth is that those things change with time. So please, don’t stress. Especially not over something like not making the team. Pfff! That does not define you or your potential. It simply may not be your thing- you know? Nothing wrong with that. You just have got to explore other things and discover the ones that bring meaning and happiness into your life. That’s all. I’m turning 28 next weekend and I’m still searching for those kinds of things- it never ends. So keep your head high, do not let those little bumps hold you back from moving forward, and remember that there’s always something better in store. It may not come when you want it to but it will, once the time is right. This is something that most of us struggle with, including myself. We’re so used to having things on demand but hey, life doesn’t work that way. It’s okay. Don’t rush. Don’t worry about having a ‘set’ plan. Certainly don’t write one in pencil because you will have to rewrite it many times. It’s just how it goes. The older you get, the more things you will realize. The better you will know yourself as well as what you need and want. And most importantly, how to go about getting it.

I dont know if i can help …BUT…I will give it a shot …Until I was 26-ish I never knew my skills in life, never looked or cared or thought it mattered…Then one day I realised everything I had done, worked, lived and experianced was to do with others, even though I was really independant I still listerned to older people and did what they thought was right for me…I had grown up to become a follower, someone who needs telling and does what they are told type of stuff, which was nothing major just how life works for some…Anyhow at around the age of 26 I discovered myself, is how i found it, I had the opertunity by working abroad and being in a completely different world and people to what i was used to…Excelled at my work and found many skills I never realised I had…This opened the doors to me to find loads since i was 26.Once you find one skill it makes you want more and you find em…I now could list 10-20 things i can do well if not better than most. Its like volleyball…yeah you may like it and want to do well in it but thats coz your options to what you can do well in are limited ,with ya age.The older you get the more experiances and things you will discover, and then you learn what you can excell at ,what is ya thing. I like to think we all have to go back in time and think what would our roles be in a medievil village or sumin…Like I would be a carpenter or stone mason…Every village needs certain people and we all would have had a role to play and the skill to do…I reckon.
