No, it should not hurt. If it hurts, it means something is not quite right. Usually the problem is simply not having enough lubrication. That means you should be in the mood before even attempting anything sexual. When you’re in the mood, your body produces its own lubrication. You can also buy a water-based lubricant at the store just to make sure you have enough since some women do not make a lot even when they are in the mood. Being nervous can also make you produce less lubrication.

The second most common cause of pain is simply not being relaxed. If you’re nervous, your muscles will tense up, and that includes your v*gina! So if you’re not comfortable with your partner or your surroundings, you might want to just wait.

If you’re relaxed and well lubricated, you should not feel pain. If you do feel pain, make sure to schedule an appointment with an ob-gyn and tell her about the pain, as that can be a sign of various infections and other issues. Even if you do not feel pain, you’ll have to go to the ob-gyn anyway though. All girls have to start going when they become sexually active or turn 18, whatever happens first.

Usually, there is little or no blood when the hymen tears. Most girls tear their hymens long before they ever have intercourse. Most hymens tear in childhood or puberty. They are usually extremely delicate, so they tear from tampons, fingers, and even running and jumping. Some women do have tougher hymens, so their hymen might stay intact longer and bleed or hurt a little when it does break, but that isn’t the norm.
