What can I do if my three month old is affected by poison ivy?

This past sunday we went to my grandmother’s house to help clear her backyard from the past hurricane that came through. Well I’m pretty sure that I have poison ivy. I have spots on my arms in several places, and it seems they are spreading. They also itch really bad if I touch any of them. What can you put on poison ivy? I know there’s calomine lotion but is there anything else? Also, I have a 3 month old and I’m the only one home to care for him during the day? Is there any way I can stop him from getting it from me. Not touching him is not an option, it’s just me and him all day.

you can also buy stuff specific for poison ivy in the drug stores.not sure of the name but it shuld be with the anti-itch creams and stuff.

Well, my oldest son had poison ivy when he was 6 months. The doctor’s recommended that we not put Calamine lotion on him because he was so young, instead they advised me to give him oatmeal bathes. I found a baby oatmeal bath in a drug store (Johnson’s makes one and so does Cottontail’s). It took longer to clear it up but it did work.

As for you the only way to not spread it is to make sure when they are open to not touch him. My husband puts rubbing alcohol on his and he swears that it dries up faster. Calamine lotion is probably the best thing for coating it (it will keep it from leaking any fluid). Make sure if you itch a spot you wash your hands after (common sense, I know).

Good luck
