What is the point of summer, fall, winter, and spring break?

because life is too short to spend every day working it away :)

Because going to school continuously would be hard. And people like to go on vacation abroad to visit families and what not.

Most of those breaks like Fall Break, Winter Break, and Summer Break are given because they fall near a national holiday. Spring is given as a break because the school boards feel that students deserve a break.

Regardless, not all schools have the same length of breaks or even breaks at all. Japan has 245 days of school, Israel has close to 220 days of school and very few breaks (other than national holidays). The U.S. has the least with only 180 days.
