Can I move out at 17 in New York?

some one please help. I need to know if I can move out or no. Im 17 and live in new york. My mom keeps threatening to beat me and swears constantly. I have 5 younger siblins.

Yea you can leave just as long as she dont get help like the cops or sumthing but yea you can leave just have a job or somewhere good that you can stay :)

If the situation is really bad…then I would call CYS yourself and tell them wats going on…you’d probley be able to go live with someone in your family…or if that dont work out, you can get emancipated…good luck. I hope this helps…

Your mom is responsible for you until you are 18. Unless you have another relative to move in with, along with your mom’s permission. The best thing to do is call child protection services and let them know about the situation.

I seen your post and wanted 2 respond. You cant legally emancipate yourself unless you can prove the you can support yourself and a whole lot of other b.s. I included A link so you can read to over. I understand how it is 2 b in a unhappy family. Im not sure exactly what to tell you or what I would think would b good advice. Think about the facts of the situation and weight it out pros and cons sort of thing. If you want 2 talk need a outlet ill talk 2 u.
