Personally I think that you should get a friend or a professionals photographer to take some really good pictures of you. Then you should start by trying to visit modeling agencies or even better apply for jobs online by just posting the pictures up onto specific sites.

thecowgod pretty much had all of my advice. I’ve met people who loved it and I have met people who hated it. The ones that loved it though didn’t need the money as much. Two of them were married and their husbands made enough, so when an event came up and they didn’t want to go, they just said as much. Granted they weren’t the highest paying gigs. Also keep in mind that while there are a lot of different types of modeling jobs, most models out there are not cindy crawford, adriana lima or on the cover of sports illustrated. You will be in a field with a bunch of competition, not everyone will be nice.

One you should get a picture portfolio professional made. This can run you up to anywhere from $500 to $5000. Depends on who you see. Then apply them to a modeling agency. Best start with a local agency, they will show you what you need to know. And they will groom you for the career. However, a modelling career is very tough, as agencies will try and sell your look to which ever contract requires your specific look. If that contract is not looking for your individual profile, you can go months or years without aquiring a contract. Most people who get a job with a big modeling agency, end up having 2 or 3 jobs to support cost of living in the big city while in between contracts.
