Ok, First, NO I am not looking to buy a platypus. No there not endangered, they were at a threat level but there not any more. Yes the males are poisons. I know enough to know its not a pet I can take on right now if its possible. So that said.
Does any one know if its legal to own a platypus as a pet. If it is in what states? If you have interacted with one, what is there temperament like? How do they act? Do they play or any thing like that? How big do they get? Are they grumpy? How would you go about finding one? Do you need a permit? Are they very messy? I heard they purr if there raised as a pet and it can mean they like some one, is that true? And lastly any other info you can give about them in general I would love it.
If there not legal, can you please offer proof, do not just tell me off. Show me why, because if they are I would like to know. And if you want to rant about them being a wild animal and not a pet, save it, I do not want to hear it, every single animal ever owned as a pet was at one point a wild animal, or was related to one.
Thank you.
No. It is illegal to have a platypus as a pet, and you would not be able to provide the conditions it needs. It would die very quickly. Platypuses are native Australian animals, and therefore protected by law. They are not permitted to be kept as pets in Australia or any other country.

It is legal in some states of the US, I have found were it says it is, you offer no proof, and honestly I do not think you really know you just stated your beliefs with out looking at any thing real. Sorry.
