What is your personal opinion on diet pills?

Do you believe they work or just a hoax.

I was discussing this today whether we believe diet pills make a difference to you or should you simply follow good old fashioned diet and excercise.

I would quite like your opinions? :)

Answer #1

Personally, I think it’s someone’s easy way out. If somebody wants to get skinny… Diet on fruits, vegetables, and cut your portions on meat. And exercise. Nobody needs Diet pills, they’re unhealthy. And most of the time, costly.

Answer #2

i think alot of them are a hoax and if you watch all the warnings there are alot so i say why take the risk… also a lot of my friends lost a lot of weight just by eating properly and working out

Answer #3

I think most diet pills are placebo pills really. Take it how you will, this a guy with no knowledge on the subject but it seems too costly to actually make a pill that will alter an individuals metabolism.

Do I think they work? Maybe for some people they probably do and for some they don’t, however, I feel that they work for maybe .01% of people that actually use them. I also feel that I could be very wrong about my statistical approach but that’s just me talking off the top of my head.

Ultimately, though, a combination of said pills and appropriate exercise is bound to give you results regardless. I do feel that this could be a thing in the future but for now, the good old fashioned way is what works and is what people should stick to and let the science people do their science thing and figure out how to improve this product of theirs.

… Or, they could just stick to marketing placebos and I can stick to being a raging cynic all the time.

Answer #4

I deffinetly agree that they cost quite a lot when you can excercise for free in your own home or even outdoors :)

Answer #5

Thank you! I’m glad you agree.

Answer #6

Thank you for giving your opinion and I actually agree with a lot of what you have just said..☺

Answer #7

You’re welcome ^^

Answer #8

How hat is it to just put the cheeseburger down and exersice( for lazy people that just eat an wonder why they are like that and never move around, not talking about illnesses or anything like that)

Answer #9

I think they’re a waste of money. Even if they do work, it’s not healthy and you’re still expected to eat right and exercise.

Answer #10

I think it’d be more effective to spend money on a gym membership than on diet pills.

Answer #11

Diet pills do work, but only if they are used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise plan. The problem with people thinking they don’t work is because they either don’t read the directions fully or truly think they’re magic. Inside the pills is nothing more than natural herbs and caffeine, you’re just paying $20-90 for the bottle. As far as it creating a placebo effect, that’s up to the individual’s thought of the pills. Also, I want to say one thing about those who think pills are unhealthy. Dieting in general is unhealthy for the body. In an effort to lose weight, we deprive our bodies of nutrients or in gaining weight, we put more stress on our organs. There’s no safe way of gaining/losing weight. Our best option is to only maintain weight.

Do I think they’re worth money? Only if you actually know how to use them and aren’t afraid of spending lots of money.

Answer #12

if you have the expensive ones they work while you are taking them, the cheep ones do not work. a friend of mine was on diet pills and it worked for her but only because she would take more then she was suppose to and they made her throw up … it is the lazy way out

Answer #13

I think they work but you cant see that as a chance to get iut of doing other things like working out and eating right. Personally, I think you are better without them because they sometimes have bad side affects .

Answer #14

I think it’s an unhealthy way to go. One, it can alter your mood to edgy and short fused. Two, after using them, you can find yourself gaining even more weight and have a harder time taking it off and keeping it off. I have a friend who was never overweight but decided to start using them and after she stopped found herself gaining weight much easier and faster then before and can’t seem to shed the additional 10 pounds to get back to what her size used to be.

Answer #15

I’ve tried alot of different Diet pills, and the only ones I found to work was the “Appetite Control” ones. It makes you not as hungry, so it makes it much easier to follow a diet or reduce your caloric intake.

Answer #16

tbh i find them fake, everyone has something wrong with ther body but no1’s perfect and if you whant to take them you realy dont need to!:p

Every medication/pill has their own side effects which can be scary. I personally wouldn’t take diet pills from what I’ve heard from people that have taken them. My cousin was taking Alli and said about after a week or so of being on it, she started getting these really bad headaches in the back of her head and didn’t know what the cause of it was. And once she stopped taking the pills, her headaches stopped also. So, taking diet pills can sometimes have their advantages and disadvantages. You also have to watch what you eat because if you eat greasy food items while on diet pills could possibly upset your stomach.
