Depends on what type of church you want to lead. I have experienced a self taught preacher and he really does have a cult. 50 cents of every dollar in the collection plate goes to him (Apprx. 60,000 a year ). His house & property were inherited mortgage free from his mother-in-law yet he still feels he is entitled to half of what the congregation provides weekly. His son decides he is going to follow in his fathers footsteps and his dad then proclaimed that the church now has a paid internship program. The “intern” will “work” for two years at a salary of 30,000 and that the congregation will need to step up their contributions. BTW his son lives in a house which is on his property. When concerns were raised we were told that it was not our decision and that it was the elder’s. The elders consist of himself and his friend. The cult members who “volunteer” are expected to come in on Saturday to clean the building, bathrooms, and grounds. The other elder owns a landscaping business… could he take care of the grounds? No. Members duty to the church. There is so much more but long story short, my wife wanted to go because her mother started going there. About six months later I put my foot down and said no more. My wife came to her senses about a month later and we started attending somewhere that didnt make my blood boil. Two weeks later we received two letters in the mail from the preacher, one addressed to me and the other to her. My letter pretty much said sorry to see you go! Her letter told her said that her soul was at stake and my child’s future is in peril. “Peace at home is not worth the cost of you and your child’s eternity.” I raged so hard that the floor turned to lava. Turns out within 3 months of my family leaving two other families left. Shortly after they divorced and the women and children were back at the Cult of Carl. I wonder if they received a letter? __Sorry for ranting. Yes I feel you could benefit from going to school for this. You get to learn cool stuff like greek and latin where you can read manuscripts and deceipher them yourself instead of making up crazy ideas in your head and systematically guilt tripping everyone who does not believe you 100% is going to burn in eternal hellfire.

Answer #11

Ehh, I’ve never lost a fight… Not concerned.

Answer #12

Yes. Goto school. It’s called Seminary. It’s where priest gain education to their faith in order to lead the flock they will be issued by the church. Or become an ordained minister online if you just want the piece of paper.
