Periods and genes.

Okay, to start off, I am going to tell you a few things about my mom. She has VERY heavy periods. She bleeds dangerous amounts. Her period seems to come back every two weeks. She has gone to the doctor and they told her to quit smoking so that they could put her on some medication until she goes through meanopause. Anyway, she won’t do it. She wants a historectemy… but that isn’t my point. My point is that I am 15 and my period is getting bad. I have been bleeding more heavily then usual the past two months. Also, though my periods were perfectly regular for quite some time, they now have 3 weeks (has been less than before)apart.. and that is just too soon and it has been getting worse. I have told my mom, and though she seems concerned as well, she changes the subject and hasn’t taken me to the doctor. I was just wondering if anyone knows why we are so irregular and if maybe birthcontrol (like, I could maybe go to planned parenthood) would help. Also, could I go to planned parenthood, like, with my sister-in-law?

also, I think my mom may not be taking me because she might think that I want the birthcontrol only because I have a boyfriend, who I do plan on getting serious with sometime.. though not until things are safe.

Thanks so much for any advice.

Hi and you will need to definitely see a doctor first i wolud if it was me i have irregular periods and hey havent always been that way but some type of birth control would be helpful according to your body thats why i would suggest seeking a physician first to determine how serious your problem is

Take care

Thank you very much, I know that in my mom’s case it is 100% necessary that she sees a doctor, and also important for me as mine have been getting worse. The log is a good idea… I am sure a doctor would appreciate it.

Thank you, very much

copy and paste this address. It will take you to a web site that should answer any question you have. The “home care” paragraph is the one you want to pay the most attention to (about half way down the page) since it will tell you what is normal or heavy. You should also let your mother look at it with you. She is the one that is at more risk for cervical cancer.

Good Luck
