Answer #9

Socialism is like a classless society, where no one has any chance to advance because there’s nothing to advance to. People are against it because it’s ridiculous. America is all about going from nothing to being rich and successful!

Answer #10

Unlike the other senseless answer that was given here, socialism isn’t the government taking control of everything you do. That would be communism, lol.

In socialism, everybody would have free access to the goods and services designed to directly meet their needs and there need be no system of payment for the work that each individual contributes to producing them. All work would be on a voluntary basis. Producing for needs means that people would engage in work that has a direct usefulness. The satisfaction that this would provide, along with the increased opportunity to shape working patterns and conditions, would bring about new attitudes to work.

Sounds awesome right? The only problem is this; Say you’re working your butt off all day, you earned every cent of that money. You worked hard, have a good house, good spouse, kids, a nice car or two… everythings awesome right?

Socialism plays into this, you get free healthcare anyways. Okay, cool, you get taxed the same as everyone else aswell, okay that’s cool too.

Then you have your homeboy down the block who doesn’t work that much, and mooches off the government. He also gets free healthcare for sitting around doing nothing and help from the government.

Guess what? You’re paying for him to live. So that’s the downfall with socialism. Why should everyone get healthcare if they don’t deserve it? If they’re not going to work for it?

Exactly.

Answer #11

facepalm The ignorance is killing me.

Answer #12

Thank you!

Answer #13

That describes communism too pay more attention in school!

Answer #14

yes- in a socialist society it eventually becomes evident to everyone that they shouldn’t work so hard or at all- which would kill the whole socialist system- if no one is working then there is nothing to distribute- which opens the door for armed revolt or complete government takeover and the birth of a communist regime and forced labor.

Answer #15

Which is why, Hanji, a socialist government will never work.

Answer #16

In Socialism, what really happens is that the government controls all business. The businesses that do survive are all big businesses. There are no medium and small businesses. All that ends up being left is huge conglomerates that the government runs. People are trained, brainwashed, to work for the good of the collective. You slide into Socialism. In the case of the United States, it has already taken about 100 years for us to get to where we are now. The change in the U.S. has been engineered by Fabian Socialists (started in the late 1800s in England) who have taken over the Democrat Party and part of the Republican Party. The Tea Party is an attempt by Conservatives to retake the Republican Party since the Democrat Party is too far gone. Socialists refer to themselves as Progressives. There are approximately 70 members of the Progressive Caucus in Congress. Once you reach Socialism, the next phase is to slide the country into Communism. Outside of a revolution, the easiest way to reach Communsim is in a “progressive” manner, changing laws and the culture so slowly that people don’t notice. The ultimate goal, though, is Communism. Marxism is the political theory or roadmap. Communism is the result. Under Communism, the state not only owns and controls all commerce, the state also owns the individual. The individual has no say whatsoever and any appearance of democracy is simply a sham. The individual lives for the glory of the state or the political party that controls it. Instead of all rights coming from God, it is the state that gives people their rights. In Communism, there are only two classes: the political or ruling class (1%) and the poor (99%). If you want to find out what life is like under Communism, you can read the writings of many people or attend seminars given by such people as Lech Walensa of Poland. But anyone who believes that life is better under Socialism or Communism is entirely delusional or misinformed. The best system that has ever been created, and the system that has brought more people out of poverty and provided more opportunity, is the Free Enterprise System. If you want Socialism, move to Europe. If you want Communism, move to China. But please leave our country alone. Imperfect though it may be, it is still the best and most free country upon the face of the earth.

Answer #17

First off, you should understand the way terms like “communism” and “Socialism” are used. There are no pure forms of any economic ideology. Every working system is a hybrid. Nobody really wants a free market; what they want is a market that favors them. Corporations spend $billions trying to stack the cards in their favor them demonize other for interfering with the sacred free market. People raise the specter of creeping socialism any time economic policy is suggested that they see as favoring someone else. When an economic policy favors them it is not socialism at all but rather an effective federal program. One of the best quotes I’ve seen lately went something like, “why is it that when a corporation takes advantage of our system to avoid paying taxes they are good businessmen but when someone takes advantage of our system so their family won’t starve they are a shameless moocher?” The reason cries of “socialism” are so effective in the US is because deep down everyone harbors a fear that their hard earned money is going to help someone unlike themselves that they don’t even like. Anything the federal government does could be considered socialism in the broadest sense. Programs derided as socialism are simply things that help people who do not have lobbyists.
