Should I come out to people at school?

when school starts im going to be in my senior year so im worried that it could ruin what should be my best year of school, at the same time i really want a bf and i cant find one if im in the closet…

Answer #1

=( One of my bestfriends came out of the closet and he hasn’t found a boyfriend in 3 years so he has to date people farther away from here (diff states) and a lot of people make fun of him. So do what you think is right.

Answer #2

its your last year of highschool so i think you should who knows maybe you will get a boyfriend and if anyone picks on you just ignore them :)

Answer #3

Do whatever you feel like. Whether you come out to several or just yell it out across hall in assembly.

People will make fun, they will make it hard, I know. But being gay isn’t a crime and you should be proud of who you are.

No matter what happens, it WILL get better <3

Answer #4

Well it’d probably be better to just come out to your closest friends. Honestly once you get out of highschool scream it in the streets but you’d save yourself a lot of trouble if you didn’t tell EVERYONE in your school. What’s the point if they’re not going to be in your life for a long time, anyway? If you tell your closest friends, I’m sure word will travel around, anyway.

Answer #5

Where I went to high school two of the most popular guys were gay and dating eachother, and still are today. So they have been dating for about 7 years now. If your comfortable enough I would, whoever your friends are still going to be your friends if they care about you. It will be nice then for prom to take eachother or danses.

Answer #6

Hard to say, I know that in the US there are some places where homosexuals are constantly harassed and bullied and there are other places where they are accepted. You know the attitudes in your area so you are in a better position to judge how it will be received. If you come out it will be that much easier for other people to come out of the closet but nobody said that you have to be a martyr. If you live in an area with a lot of hostility toward homosexuals you should consider keeping it private. Whatever you decide good luck!

Answer #7

whos business is it any ways…your true friends and people who want be your friends are those who except you for who you are not what you are :)))

Answer #8

Do you know anyone in your school who did come out? And how did people react to that? Are they generally speaking badly about homosexual people or do folks talk tolerant?

Kids can be nasty and cruel. And even at 17 or 18 people are still far from grown up. Yet, if the general attitude is tolerant and friendly and you think that teachers and fellow students will defend you against bullies, I advise you to come out. If the general attitude is intolerant, I’d advise you not to make it public. You know it could be horror if they hate you.

If you decide to come out, do it whatever way you like. You can wear a T-Shirt that says “I’m gay!”. You can just wait until people talk about girls and relationships and then just mention that you are looking for a boyfriend. As if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Answer #9

Dont worry about what other people think of you, I’m Bi, and I dont care what people think. Plus, school is only for the beggining of your life, the rest of your life is away from all those people who judged you. And also, you’ll know who your best friends are, the ones who dont judge you for it.

Answer #10

Well maybe you just shouldn’t say anything..i mean if your gonna risk your last year of highschool being a bad one just keep it to yourself and start dating after you graduate..or date and keep it on the down low..i mean people are really cruel..and can make your life a living hell just because you decide that you like guuys.

Answer #11

Do what you feel necessary. From what I see, it’s starting to get much better within society, you see much more openness and willingness to accept.
