Answer #5

Actually, the correct term is stretch, not gauge. Gauge is just a measurement! Anyway, start with a 16 gauge if your lobes are at 18 now (most lobes are either 18 or 20). First, taking a hot shower will help the lobes loosen up. Then use a taper (it’s kind of cone shaped) to increase the piercings size. Lube the taper up with a water based lubricant and carefully slide it in to the hole. Keep pushing till you reach the end, and then follow through with your plug/tunnel. The stretching will probably sting, but it shouldn’t cause TOO much pain. If the pain seems unbearable, something could be wrong. Possibly an infection. It’s important to SLOWLY progress bigger. The longer you wait, the easier the next stretch will be. Also I think it’s a good idea to view the whole stretching process as a permanent modification because there are no guarantees that your ears will ever go back to normal.

Grammar nazis all up in here sayin’ it’s Streching instead of gauging. Alright, anyways, basically grab yourself some tapers, such as 18 to 16, start small, and never size too quickly. If it bleeds, don’t do it, could cause infection or if you’re going huge, break your lobe.

Tada, nothing to it.

You can watch a tutorial on stretching your ears on youtube. http://funadvice.com/r/15ibcr3s2n5 Oh, and never use vaseline. It clogs.
