Why do people ask some questions that are hard to describe in the gaming section?

Are you talking about questions that would take this question to the “mature” section on this site… that sort of questions?

I guess people ask those things just to see how you react. So if you play, for example, on an online game-server and someone asks you a “mature” question, he is testing your personality in a way.

He knows you probably do not expect such a question there.

He wants to know whether you’ll be ashamed to talk about things like that. Or whether you will just tell everyone about your private things. Or whether you will bruck te question off by making a joke or giving some witty, nonchalant comeback.

That will tell the person some things about you. Whether you are fast-wordedor slow-witted, whether you are rather frigid or rather open-minded. And so on.

People do not do that in “real life”, because it’s taboo in most situations. You just don’t ask such things when you talk to people you know on the schoolyard. It’s inappropriate and it would be considered harrassment by most folks.

On some online game server chat, you are anonymous. You can say anything you want to. You can ask anything you want to, whether it is appropriate or not. You have a nickname there and no one knows you anyway. But then, asking such questions to your fellow gamers will tell you a lot about them. Even if someone ignores the inappropriate question or refuses to answer the inappropriate question, that tells the others a lot about the person.
