Why do people in deserts wear heavy clothes?

i guess arabic deserts

usually it’s because of the way they operate meaning in the arabic community the me control everyting so their women have to be covered up…after a while they get used to it and the outfits actually arent heavy fabric they’re very loose flowing fabric…we got the chance to wear them in history class last year…very neat!

i used to live in an arab country…kuwait…it was very cool i loved it sooo much! i was born and raised there…im not kuwaiti however im american…all my friends were there =( my very extremely awesome friends…and now im all alone =’( i have a little filipino in me too ;) but im american…there’s a celebration in kuwait called ramadan…and we used to dress in traditional kuwaiti clothing and get candy and nuts. i did not live in a desert though, i lived in the city. most people think oh she livedin kuwait…probably in the dessert…EHHH! wrong…most people live in the towns, and cities!!! kuwait is called a (desert) because there is alot of sand but it’s not entirely desert! most of it in fact is cities and towns and streets… :P so yeah it was pretty awesome now i live in america…we stayed there when i was a kid cuz my dad was in the military and he went there and he met my mom and he dicided to stay there i guess, and they got jobs and just stayed there for a long time.

but i never got why they wear their arabic garms to the desert it’s so hot there :P

it’s to prevent the water from their body to evaporate too much due to the heat. the heavy clothes act as some sort of cover :)

yes- all of the heavy clothing actually keeps them cool and protects them from the hot sun. many people in the desert begin to remove clothing because they are hot and that actually is the wrong thing to do.
