What does it mean when people say that they see colors as moods or vibes?

Answer #1

I guess they associate colours with certain feelings or emotions. Like people find colours like blue to be quite calming, while orange or red has more energy.

Answer #2

Different colors give off different “mood/vibes” for instance blue is a relaxing color, generally when you see the color blue you feel calm relaxed, that is why many people enjoy sitting by the ocean. Red is a color that generally means anger, the color of blood. etc.. Yellow is normally a color that is loud, exciting, eccentric.

Again, these are just generalizations and do not truly mean everyone feels this way, but many people do find colors to also have a certain feeling with them.

Answer #3

They can compare colors with aspects of their lives and consider some colors to have a meaning emotionally or with personality rather than creativity. My friend said i’m blue, and she defined me as clever but serious. As for another of my friends said that blue meant dark and melancholy. Some people go with what they think is better rather than what reality states.

Most people experience an overlap of the senses to some extent, e.g. associating red with an angry emotional state or hot temperature, or blue as a sad emotional state or cool temperature.

Music written in a Major key may seem happy, bold and confident, whereas music in a minor key may seem sad, timid and reserved.

Some people experience much greater levels of interaction between the various senses, and genuinely do “see” (in the sense of having a vivid imagination) different colours when hearing different musical notes, or experiencing different emotional states.

The “ability” to experience high degrees of such sensory overlap is called “synesthesia”, and someone who is known to experience such effects consistently is sometimes classified as a “synesthete”.

Those who don’t experience synesthesia, sometimes doubt that a child is telling the truth when saying that they see a happy colour around jolly people or a scary colour around an unpleasant character, and they get told that they are just sensing good or bad “vibes”. Other adults may take the children more seriously and suggest they are seeing differently coloured “auras” around people. The child grows up to learn whether to class the effect as a “figment of their imagination”, an ability to sense vibes by intuition, or to be a psychic seer of things that are not seen by many other people.

I think that the way in which child synesthetes are addressed by adults has a lot to do with the manner in which they refer to their sensory experience, and probably even has a bearing on whether the ability is encouraged to become more developed or discouraged so as to become less pronounced or openly discussed.
