Wasn't a man born dying? Prison is a place of restriction and ultimately death, and what is our birth but an entrance into the prison house of life for which there is only one escape. As soon as we are clothed with life by God, that selfsame moment we take on the apparel of death. The skins of death beasts only serve to cover the skins of dying man. When the man came from the creator's hand he was set a job to till the earth, but this very occupation is a symbol of death. We dig the earth to plant our wheat so we can eat bread but this timeless action is a timely reminder; we will return to the dust. Our brief life trickles out like a quiet leak from a broken cistern. Our life's tale is all but told. The book of life draws to a close in the creator's hand.
