Parental control to limit time spent on the Internet?

My child spends long hours on the Internet. I am thinking about installing a parental control software on my computer, but there are thousands of choices. Do you have any recommendations?

The best control I have is to “pull the plug”. since my computer internet is over the air connection, I just block the signal when I need to. Anyway, you can see where they go doing a history check. You need to be able to trust them. If you limit them they will find another way. Keep the computer in an open family room. so you can look in at anytime. I usually know when something is up when they small box stuff. So I look. It’s the random checks. I simply ask what’s going on. you’ll know if things aren’t right.

Personally, I use a simple Internet filter called Ez Internet Timer to control my children’s internet usage. It does the trick perfectly under XP and Vista (we have 2 computers). I’ve tried many tools including Net Nanny, but my smart oldest son broke them within 5 minutes. This one protects not only protects from changing PC system time, but also it protects pc in Windows Safe Mode, task manager. I set specific time periods for use by each of my child in the family. One of the most favorite features is the ability to set browsing and messaging timers separately from emails. My son is still trying to break Ez Internet Timer, but happily for me without any success. If you’re interested in trying this tool - there is a 15 day free trial - go to http://www.internettimer.net

Why do that?!!? Your child must like the computer. I do; I spend hours on the computer. But let them their a kid, and technology is big these days. Let them be, becuase if you take it then their either going to find something else like; video games or something.. or just go to a friends house and use the internet.
