Pads with bacteria

Is it true that if you don’t change your period pads every few hours you can get infected? Like there is bacteria or something?

Answer #1

Toxic Shock Syndrome is a rare but potentially fatal disease caused by a bacterial toxin. It is known to be associated with TAMPON use where the tampon is left in too long. Therefore, do not use super absorbent tampons and leave them in longer than recommended. The problem with pads is more one of hygiene, not health.

Answer #2

your not really going to get infected but if you leave them for long enough it will cause some problems down there you need to change them every 4 hours not only to keep yourself clean but because the pad is probably filled up so its not going to be good at absorbing any more but mainly for hygeine reasons also tampons are the same, you need to change them every 3-4 hours but they can cause tts (toxic shock syndrome) in some girls so be careful if your using them

Answer #3

well if you have a heavy flow you deff should change it often. even if you have a light flow though it should be changed at least every 4 hours. I dont know about bacteria but I know that if you dont change it often it can start to smell. I think tampons are better to deal with though… pads are uncomfortable for me. I use tampons and thin panty liners.
