What is the dot on the forehead of Pakistani women?
okay im not saying this to be rude. I always wondered this. a person who lives in Pakistan, they dot on the womens fore head. is that just a diamond stuck there with glue, is it a sticker? what is it & how does it stay
Here’s wiki’s take on it…
A bindi is a forehead decoration worn in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Traditionally it is a dot of red color applied in the center of the forehead close to the eyebrows, but it can also consist of a sign or piece of jewelry worn at this location.
Traditionally, married Hindu women wear a bindi. The traditional bindi is made with red sindoor powder or perhaps a black ointment. The bindi is a form of tilak, religious Hindu signs worn on the forehead. Nowadays, bindis are also worn by women who are not married, children, and by women who are not Hindu.
The area between the eyebrows (where the bindi is placed) is said to be the sixth chakra, ajna, the seat of “concealed wisdom”. According to followers of Tantrism, this chakra is the exit point for kundalini energy. The bindi is said to retain energy and strengthen concentration. It is also said to protect against demons or bad luck.
its not Pakistani tradition ..basicaly hindu do that…im not sure wts da reason behing that, some sort or traditon or religious sign ,THat dot is called bindi…but please make sure PAkistani women dont do that, they are muslims and bindi has no any connection wid dem.
actually some pakistanis do put the bindi on their foreheads, but it is mainly decorative… I believe the hindus use the red powder when they get married and as a symbol of being married (kinda like a wedding ring), they also use bindis… I dont know if it has any religious significance…
Sorry but I have to correct you guys here, that’s actually an Indian/Sikh tradition. I don’t know the purpose of it but they use a red powder that they will press in-between the eyebrows or they may simply use a bindi which is a small sticky sort of patterned bead that comes in assorted shapes, colours and sizes.
It is called the third eye and is a connection and reference to spiritual sight and is for the hindu belief.
its a sticker, it has adhesive, and I forgot what they are called, but some beleive its a portal to there mind, and spirit
I agree with what everyone else is saying. Have they sometimes been used to indicate what caste the Hindu person belongs to? Or is that something I picked up wrong?
they are called bindis I think but yeah the girl above me is right
its sum hindu thing…and they also use some sort of powder…lol
So Pakistan is mainly Muslim - maybe this is an Indian thing.
Thats INDIAN AND HINDU WOMEN not PAKISTANI!!!
