There are other ways to achieve pregnancy without actual penetration. They are usually expensive and not always guaranteed to work. As cmw4562 said above, there is invetro fertilization. A couple may be having difficulty achieving conception the old fashion way. When there is no medical reason the woman should not be able to carry a baby, the couple may want to try invetro. The man, again, has his sperm used to atually fertilize a number of her eggs outside of the uterus. When the fertilization occurs, the zygotes are placed directly inside the woman’s uterus. Before the woman has this done, she was taking several doses of hormones to prepare for the procedure. This is to ensure her fertility. Sometimes the lucky couple can end with 5 babies at once! Multiple births have happened without the help of fertility drugs, though. There are other times when conception does not happen at all. The woman has to go through several procedures. Each time the couple tries, she has to first have her eggs removed and then has to have the fertilized eggs inserted. This procedure is also very costly. It is ironic to me that although there are ways to become pregnant without participating in sexual intercourse, you cannot achieve pregnancy without a man and woman!
