Oestrogen and drosophila metamorphosis

Hmm this seems kind of weird but does anyone know if oestrogen plays a role in drosophila metamorphosis and if so, do you know where I could find a scientific paper on the subject?

I would think not because the life span of the fly is so short..the hormone may aid in sexual drive but not in development.
