What are the odds of a person getting cancer who has no background of cancer in their family?

Smoking is not the only thing that causes cancer that is not heriditary. It all depends on how you live your life style…excessive tanning ups your chances, smoking, heavy drinking, and many more things have to be factored in.

im sorry i didnt know smoking and genetics were the only way to get cancer….

it could happen anytime and you wouldnt know it untill its too late, thats why its so dangerous…

you could live 2 years with cancer and wouldnt know it…

From listening to the “scientists” for the past 30 years….I’d say jsut about anything can give you cancer…from smoking to electric blankets.

there are so many ways you can get cancer without having any family history,by sun you can get skin cancer,tobacco smoke,you can have lung cancer due to carcinogens. you can get cancer if your immune system is very weak such as cancers that are caused by viruses, such as cervical cancer and other cancers of the genital or anal area, some lymphomas, liver cancer and stomach cancer…other reasons may be man made radiation,work place hazard etc. I also don’t have any family history and have cancer,i spend my day thinking what is the cause of it but many people suffer from it due to the environment we have now which is so polluted.earlier there were less cases of cancer than now..i can see thousands of people everyday in hospital who suffers from it..so its better to prevent it. rather than thinking like me :(
