Obama or McCain

What is the “one thing” that will make you vote for either candidate? abortion issue, economy, etc…???

Answer #1

Recognizing and respecting the sanctity of life - an unborn human beings ‘right to life’ - not being pro-abortion trumps all for me.

Answer #2

“I cannot name one way my everyday life has been altered under president Bush. I , as a law abiding citizen, feel just as free today as I did 7 years ago, maybe even more so, because this country has not come under attack in seven years. please tell me how it has affected you personally.”

I hate to tell you rickd, the world does not revolve around you. But what you say is not exactly true, unless you don’t ever drive a car. If you haven’t noticed, gas prices have more than tripled since bush took office.

One does not need to be personally affected by something to know it is wrong. A mugging that happens in NY does not affect you. Does that mean it didn’t happen, or that nothing should be done about it.

The founding fathers were realtively well-to-do men, and could easily have gone on that way without rebelling against british rule. But they risked everything because they knew somethings were more important than their pesonal saftey and liberty. They knew the tyranny they were under, and the effect is was having on the colonies, even if they themselves were doing ok.

Please don’t assume that just because it is ok with you for Bush and Cheney to piss all over the constitution that it is ok for the rest of us. Because it is not!!

“Like why does the media keep saying he is half African American, when he is not. Are they ashamed to say he is actually half white, and half Arab ? That he went to muslim schools? That his full name is Barack Hussein Obama (a muslim name)? What is the big deal? I would vote for him if he was not so liberal (he is ranked in the top three most liberal senators.)”

Uhm, rickd, I don’t know where you get you info from, but it is sorely lacking. The last time I looked, Kenya was in Africa, Obama’s father was kenyan. That would mean he is truly half african american. His name is not muslim. Barack is an african name derived from the semitic name baruch or barak, meaning blessing. Hussein is an arabic name also drived from the semitc name hasan, which means good or handsome. Not all arabs are muslim, and many christians have the name also. I know you and most anti-Obama people, think of saddam when hearing the name Hussein, but that is like thinking of Stalin when hearing the name Joseph. Hussein is one of the most common names in the world.

The position that McCain is anti-abortion is incorrect. McCain does support abortion in cases where there is rape, incest or the mother’s life is at risk. To select your candidate based on the issue of abortion alone is absurb. Both candidates support a woman’s right to choose. If a woman is pregnant due to rape, she can choose to have an abortion. Both McCain and Obama support her right to choose. If a woman is pregnant due to rape by her father or brother, she can choose to have an abortion. Both McCain and Obama support her right to choose. If a woman is pregnant and the pregnancy is placing her life at risk, she can choose to have an abortion. Both McCain and Obama support her right to choose.

So, we have ruled out the issue of abortion. Both support a woman’s right to choose.

Let’s move on to voting for the candidate who displays moral fiber and Christian values.

McCain cheated on his first wife with his current wife.

Okay, we have ruled out Christian values and moral fiber.

Now, let’s move on to voting for the candidate who will protect our freedom and liberties.

Let’s just vote for Obama. The clear choice.

“Recognizing and respecting the sanctity of life - an unborn human beings ‘right to life’ - not being pro-abortion trumps all for me.”

Sorry amblessed, I don’t buy it. If you truly felt that way, you would not support the republicans. Under Clinton, the number of abortions fell steadily. They continued to drop under Bush, but only minimally. If you truly cared about reducing abortions, you would favor the party that actually wants to do something about unwanted pregnancy other than “just say no”. There is no one who is pro-abortion. They are pro-choice. I am pro-life, and I feel that the way the practice of abortion occurs in this country devalues human life. But I am not going to try to change that by supporting people who only care about making it illegal, and refusing to deal with the ultimate cause. And I am certainly not going to listen to hypocrits who claim to be pro-life, but think capital punishment is just fine, or that war as a first resort is ever justified, or that gun deaths are just unfortunate accidents. Those are not pro-life positions.

I think you need to get your priorities straight.

Well, let’s see…I guess my “one thing” would be an ability to lead the country in a direction that leads to less government intrusion, greater energy independence, a strong focus on reducing the debt, and an appreciation of basic civil liberties.

If you’re voting for a candidate based on a single hot-button issue, please do the rest of us a favor and stay home on election day.

Superman27e.. You ARE racist, don’t say that you aren’t. And if you happen to say that you aren’t, well than, you are a bigot. Do you know what that means? Someone who claims not to be racist, has racist aquaintences, but then talks bad about that race. Yes, that’s what you are.

Don’t judge someone by the way there skin color is. It’s people like YOU who need a reality check. We’re not back in the early and middle 1900’s. It’s two thousand eight. And I think you’re just going to have to accept the fact that your next president will be a black man, who also has white in him as well.

I LOVE barack HUSSEIN obama.

Answer #8

I’m not a single issue voter. Probably the diligence they show performing their sworn duty to defend and uphold the constitution is highest on my list.

I don’t think either party is particularly strong in this regard. The current administration seems to have utter contempt for our Bill of Rights (except perhaps the 2nd amendment that they love so long as you interpret it the way they do).

Obama has spoken out against Bush’s abuses while McCain has embraced them. To me the choice here is clear. If you value your freedom and liberties vote Obama. If you want to inch closer to fascism and a police state vote McCain.

Answer #9

Politics are multidimensional and life is very complex. Such a decision cannot be made from the spectrum of one issue.

Having said that let me contradict my self :): Who would I want to be my neighbor and interact with my children? Definitely not George Bush and Cheney. In the 2008 case; not a man who joked about rape, thought it funny to joke about Chelsea Clinton’s looks or who chanted bomb Iran to the tune of the Beach Boys.

Answer #10

I meant friends of a different race Not racist aquaintences.

Answer #11

I refuse to vote because they both are horible

Answer #12

Hussein is one of the most common names in the world? Are you serious? You’re on that same crack as obama was. tisk tisk.

Answer #13
