Obama for drilling

Its good, we should tap into all our natural resources to decrease our dependancy on foriegn oil. It would create jobs for good hard working Americans, and keep the gas prices down. I still have’nt made my mind up about Obama, but I wish him the best and hope he can pull us out of this mess.

Hurray! if Obama keeps the promise of wanting to drill, that would be great! Well, for once I’ll support him on this proposal.

More drilling will have virtually no impact on our dependence on foriegn oil. We currently consume 25% of the worlds oil, and produce only 3%. Even if we could double our oil production (which we can’t), we still have to import more 3/4s of our oil. We can not drill our way out of this problem. We need alternative clean energy sources.

Anyone who says that drilling will get us off foreign oil is either grossly misinformed, or a liar. I am not totally against some additional drilling, but lets be honest about the importance of it.

Absolutely false. In order for us to get off foreign oil we would need to increase our production by 800%. It is impossible for us to even double our production, much increase by eight-fold.

jimahl…I never said it would totally wing us off foreign oil. I will help…we drill not only for crude oil but for natural gas. Now that said there are places in the gulf of Mexico that we can tap into that would supply almost the entire state of Texas. Now having said that I am all for other resources…espacially wind…we have the largest wind farm in the United States right here in West Texas, we should by no means rely just on Crude oil and natural gas. I notice you seem to be very political…getting offended by anyone that says anything bad or opposite of your or Obama opinions…even picking on people(or at least that the way I take it) so if you do not agree with anything I got to say about drilling for oil or the oilfield in general be respactful and disagree ..but do not call me a liar or misinformed.

It is true that no amount of drilling will eliminate our dependence on foreign oil. So if one thinks we can, they either don’t know the statistic, or if they do, they are lying. You seem to understand that no amount of drilling will get us off foreign oil. So it seems you are not that misinformed. I don’t think we should be endangering the environment with something that has no negligible effect on our energy needs. Resources would be better spent on long range solutions for alternative and renewable energy sources.

And your not? “Obama opinions”? Are your opinions “McCain opinions” or “Bush Opinions”. My opinions on energy and the environment may be more in line with liberals, but my opinons were formed long before I ever heard Obama’s name.
