Should I do home dye if the salon didn't make my hair light enough?
I have natural dark brown hair. I just went to the salon and had it lightened. But the salon would not lighten it by bleaching so my hair is a dark golden blond and not the light honey blond that I want. Could I lighten it myself with a home dye since the salon got it this far? (they would not bleach my hair.)

Why wouldn’t the salon bleach it for you, if that’s what you wanted? If they avoided bleaching it due to hair damage or something, I wouldn’t do it on my own. If the stylist just didn’t listen to you, I say go for it!
if its a light golden blonde i mean very light just buy the color tint you want…..if its a golden blonde with a orange tint to it or dark bleach it yourself then buy the color tint you want salons always egzagerate on the concequences….they always say the oppisite…dont be afraid go for it!!
