Is it normal to feel this kind of hatred towards gynecologists?
I do not know why I feel hate when I hear the word gynocologist. I know they are professionals and they went to school to help women , but I still hate them?
There are a few female gyno’s. It’s worth finding one… I switched years ago after feeling the same way you did, and don’t regret it. They are also more careful and gentle with your private parts. No ramming and no COLD THINGS (in my experience). . My niggling feelings have also been confirmed by talking to many medical students and professionals in my family over the years!!
I guess what I hate is that male gynocologists are out there and I believe gynocology should be left to women.
i dont know why you would hate them..somebody has to do the job right? but i can understand if you only hate or dont agree with the male gyno’s..it does seem a little ‘perverted’ and strange that they would choose that profession..however i have found through experience that older gyno’s are much gentler and they make you feel comfortable..i’ve had experience with younger female gyno’s and they actually hurt me..so i would go with older ones..i have had a male gyno once but i got really uncomfortable lol..i guess i feel weird that some strange guy that i dont know is looking at me and i can feel better with women because they have what we have LOL..so it makes it seem more comfortalbe lol..
i meant to say older FEMALE gyno’s make me feel comfortable..than young gyno’s or male lol..
Yes I get it. Actually, I am against this kind of exams. But if my life depended on it, I would choose an experienced, older woman gynocologist.
If you are too uncomfortable going to a male gyn than by all means choose a female doctor. Since my wife is a labor and delivery nurse she knows almost every ob/gyn in town and the best one she knows is male so she goes to him. I’m not saying that male doctors are better than female but you decision ideally should be based on the best doctor rather than their gender. If you are so uncomfortable with male doctors that it would it would hurt your ability to work with your male doctor than a female doctor would be the better choice. I’m a guy but I go to a female doctor. I’m most doctor’s nightmare patient; I read everything I can get my hands on about any health problem I have and I ask a bazillion questions. Many doctors take any questions about their treatment choices personally but my doctor is open minded and doesn’t mind discussing the reasoning behind her recommendation and hearing challenging viewpoints. I chose her because she is on the same wavelength that I am rather than based on her gender. Perhaps if you think that all male gyn’’s are a certain way the problem is your perception rather than an entire gender.
Turning 50 I recently had my first colonoscopy. Naturally this wasn’t a pleasant experience That was the first and only time that I ever visited a gastrointerologist so naturally on the gut level I associate gastrointerologists with a having 5 feet of endoscopy up my butt but logically I know that I had an uncle who had colon cancer meaning I have a higher than usual risk and the procedure though unpleasant could save my life. It is perfectly human to associate gynocologists with unpleasant and invasive exams they perform but as you point out, they are doctors who have dedicated their lives to helping others lead long, healthy, and happy lives. The ancient Greeks had a habit of killing the messenger of unwelcome news. They associated the negative news with the blameless messenger.. Likewise it is easy to blame the doctor for the awkwardness and discomfort of the exam that they need to do.
my gyno is a female much more comfty
I know exactly how you feel, I would never go to a guy gyno, and even with a women I still feel VIOLATED!!! I really can’t explain how degrading it kinda is, well for my personally.
I feel the same way
