What is your normal Christmas routine?

I know it’s a couple of months away but I’m already excited about Christmas! The thing that really makes me excited is hearing other people’s Christmas routines and telling people about mine.

Christmas Eve- 7pm- Some family friends come round, we have a nice dinner, a lovely chat and some mulled wine. 9pm- Me and my sister are given our Christmas pyjamas by our mum, we then put them on and watch the Christmas specials on telly. 11pm- I go to bed after a hot chocolate and fall asleep within half an hour.

Christmas Day- 7am- I’m usually woken up by my mum going downstairs to put the turkey in the oven. 7.30am- I make tea for everyone then my family open our presents from our stockings (one by one and taking it in turns) on my parents bed. 8.30am- We take our presents into our room and have a wash and get dressed. 9am- My mum and sister have horses so we all go out to the stables, feed the horses and take them out for about an half hour ride. 10.30am- We get back to our house, open 2 of our presents under the tree each. 11am- We drink a bit of mulled wine. 11.30 am- I nap in front of the tree/ 12pm- I help my family with the Christmas lunch and lay the table beautifully. 13pm- We wait for everything to be cooked and usually have a lovely talk in front of the Christmas tree. 13.30pm- We eat an AMAZING Christmas lunch, which usually consists of: Turkey/a massive chicken, sausages wrapped in bacon, roast potatoes, red cabbage, brocolli (I actually love it), sprouts, stuffing, gravy and usually a lot of other stuff. 15pm- My mum, sister and I retire into the front room (where the tree is) whilst my dad clears up. 15.30pm- We all open our presents (one by one and taking it in turns) 17.30pm- I always feel disapointed when I get through my presents so I take them up to my room, leave them there and then spend nice time with my family 18.30pm- We watch the Christmas specials on telly whilst eating the left overs (in sandwiches) 9pm- We retire to bed early, after a truly special day.

Christmas eve. Watch all the christmas films and ‘secretly’ wrap each others presents then i go to bed.

Christmas Day. Mommy is always downstairs first cooking and i wake up like ‘AH I WANT MY PRESENTS’ then my Dad and sister come downstairs once i rip the paper to shreds. by then it’s like 12-ish so we eat…once finished we watch the queen speech (tradition) We look at what we’ve had for christmas and talk about it blah blah and watch more christmas films because we’re too full to do anything else. then when i feel hungry we just eat turkey sandwiches or just overdose on chocolate. Woo. I don’t really like Christmas.

Shop till I drop, wrap till the wee hours, rip the house apart cleaning and decorating, and cook my brains out…..Then tell myself, next Christmas I’m not doing this again…I’m going on a tropical get away during Christmas and just relax. 20 years later….hasn’t happened yet…LOL

Christmas eve - dinner at my Dad’s parent’s house with that side of the family with presents and my Pop dressed up as Santa. Christmas day - off to my Mum’s mum’s house real early to set up the table and cook the food where we have lunch with the rest of the family.

I’m cuban, so we celebrate “noche buena” which is the night before christmas, we make a bunch of food and eat together as a family (most cuban families here in Miami are huuuge!), have laughs dance salsa and say a large family prayer (sort of like thanksgiving but more of a party). And then since I am very catholic the morning of Christmas me and my immediate family go to church in the morning around 10 after opening presents and get home and just play w our presents.

My family is puerto rican so we start a week ahead. We clean like deep clean. Then my friends and I start cooking a day before christmas eve. My friends kids and my brothers make cookies for santa and peel carrots for the reindeer. Presents are already wrapped in my basement (we wrap on black Friday after we buy them). Put the kids to sleep. (Sleepover) then we place presents under our tree and put the christmas bags (we don’t do stockings anymore) in the kids room under their small tree. My friends and I watch some movies finish up most of the cooking, wrap it up, go to bed. -hen

My friends and I watch some movies finish up most of the cooking, wrap it up, go to bed. Then the kids wake up at like 5 or 6 and have me and my friends wake up to see what is downstairs. Unwrapping presents takes about an hour or so. Then we have breakfast, we used to go to church but now we set the dining table which no one eats at cause a ton of food is on it and we wait until more friends and family come then we all eat exchange more presents listen to comments of the house being immaculate, watch the latest movie whether its a christmas movie or not then people say their goodbyes at like 11pm and I have a huge ass mess to clean up tomorrow morning. Occassionally my brothers have a hockey game on christmas that we end up going to before presents.
