Who knows if this is normal behavior for a 2 1/2 year old?

It actually is quite normal. If you see her doing it, don’t make a huge fuss about it or tell her she’s bad, just redirect her to a toy or something to occupy her mind.

lol i askd this same question about a one yr. old once nd they calld me a perverted freak nd other words, bt i found out thats their way of dancing or having fun and they dnt mean anything by it.

Yes, my son is 2 years old and he does that occasionaly. Its normal, llike coleen said dont fuss at them or make them feel bad, just try and change their attention to something else and they will stop. Its all a part of them discovering their bodies and new sensations. They also will mock things they have seen if they have seen a dog doing it or have accidently seen their parents.

They do have sensation in their genitals, even at that age. It’s not sexual in the way we conceptualize sex. It’s really not a big deal. If she was older you’d explain things you do in private and things that are ok to do with other people around, but since she’s too young for that, just redirect.
