Why don't they make a contest for the 100 most generous people in the world instead of the 100 most powerful people in the world?

I have heard in the news talking about the forbes list of the 100 most powerful people in the world, instead of that there should be a contest to see the list of the 100 most generous people in the world, and hear about famous and rich people doing and giving something back to the community and their country. That would be a very good news to hear. I dont care who are the most powerful people in the world, we have to look for the most generous people in the world. I just sounded like a politician lol. What do you think? Tell me please thank you.

Well that is a very good point. The priorities of the world are way out of line. On the other hand, most people who give and help others don’t want any publicity for it. It’s just something that you do from your heart For Christians, the Bible says give your gifts in secret and not publicly to recieve the favor of man, but God sees all that you do and will reward you for your campassion.

yeah i was thinking the same think when i do i good thing i dont like to tell everybody you know, but on the other hand for example when somebody do something bad there is always a copycat for the bad things, and maybe if we see people do good things then there would be more copycats doing good things, im glad that you answered my questions i thought i was talking craziness. I dont Know but sometimes i feel weird, because i dont follow what most people follow is in and question many things like sadly, we live in a materialistic world, and people dont like to help each other. People sometimes try to fool the other people trying to look smarter than the other. You are right. God is love.

Well since you’re bringing this up, I suppose it’s safe to say that Bill Gates, being the 2nd richest man in the world has also donated more than what the eighth richest man in the world is worth.

The eighth being worth 26 billion. Bill Gates has donated 28 billion to charities in his lifetime so really, some of the most powerful people are doing some good so just because they’re powerful, doesn’t mean they’re cruel and evil.

There would probably be a lot of cross over between the two list. Like MightMig mentioned, Bill Gates has donated quite a bit of money through his life, and is very rich. Question comes down to is it done to be generous, for PR or for tax reasons and just has a good spin on it or a combination of all the above.

Guys like Bill Gates have an insane amount of taxes to pay, but as far as I know donations to charities go against your taxes 1:1. So he can pay $100,000 as part of his taxes or gift it to a charity and look good. Either way he doesn’t get to keep the money.
