Ok anyone out there who has taken Algebra 1?

how does 4=2a=0 If we dont know what a is? It’s impossible to solve if you don’t know what a is.

4+2a=0 2a=-4 a=-2

It’s 4+2a, isn’t it? because you can add the 2 a’s together… remember, like terms combine. =] ^_^
