How to take care of a Money Tree?

ok. so my husband and I got a money tree. I was wondering if anyone can give me a feedback on how to take care of it? my tree is still a baby (5 inches) and it looks like one of the stem is dying? how can I help to make that one grow up to be healthier? since the tree is still a baby, how much water should be feed it? How many times should it be fed? what kind of plant food should I use? Is purified water better of just regular sink water? Hot or cold water? Will it be ok if I was to transfer the little pot to a big one at this moment or should I wait? When should I change my pot to a bigger one? How much sunlight should i give it? Well, here’s the plan I was planning on putting the plant by the window and not open the blinds if it doesn’t need that much of a sunlight. But would it be a good idea to do that? Can it die if it’s too cold or hot? it’s winter and it’s getting cold so what should I do? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Money trees are native to South America and therefore prefer sunny, humid climates. Try to leave it in indirect sunlight. The window with the blinds cracked would be nice. Water it until the soil is moist but there is no excess water on top of the soil. Also, spray it with a spray bottle regularly to ‘fake’ humidity, if you’re in a dry area. Since you said it will be cold, you might want to put it near your heater or whatever area is warmest in your house.

Repotting should be an issue when your tree seems to be outgrowing the pot. If it has room at the bottom, you’re fine. Once the roots start growing out of the holes at the bottom of the pot, you should repot.

Good luck.
