No picture when using Power DVD

why cant I get a picture when a play a dvd through power dvd but I have sound

It sounds like you’re missing a codec.

You have 2 options:

Install VLC media player to view files (they have almost every codec already installed)
Install something called the K-Lite Codec Pack (Free) to repair any missing codecs.
