What are naysayers?

. The term “… naysayer …” refers to someone who votes, or argues, against something (and by implication ….. against something that the speaker using the term is in favour of).
. I believe the origins of the term are based on opposing political factions wherein those who agree with your own stance vote “ yea “ (i.e. “yes” because they are “with you”), and those who disagree with your stance vote “ nay “, (i.e. “no” because they oppose you).
. There is an underlying implication that “naysayers” refers to groups who arbitrarily oppose you because you do not belong to their own particular faction or ideological grouping. .

Personally, I don’t believe “pessimism” has anything to do with it, either in the video posted, or in the broader (mainly literary) use of the term.

Kinda simmular to skepticism in action I guess.
