What's wrong with my belly button ring?

im using a surgical steel belly ring but now its like purple around the piercing and it hurts when i touch it and also there are little bumps all around but no puss or anything. its kinda scary cuz i don’t know what to do and i cant tell my mom cuz she don’t know about it. and i cant even go to the hospital cuz my mom’s a doctor and she works there. i been using bactine, antibacterial soap, and neosporin on the bumps and purple part. do you know what this possibly can be?

Answer #3

I would say that it is infected. Most people’s bodies cannot handle something that is foreign. I would say take out the belly ring and let your body heal. Don’t put any cream or anything on the sores. Most creams & soaps just irritate. Let the sores heal naturally. If the Lord had meant for you to have a ring in your belly, he would have put one there when you were born!

Hey I don’t know how long you’ve been waiting on a response that helps, but here it is. The ring is about to migrate out of your skin. I know because I had mine pierced and it turned purple then black. I hurt really bad and it started to drain more than it did when I first got it done. Well I woke up one morning, went to do my normal morning stuff and was cleaning it w/ satin soap and it was hanging on the smallest piece of skin ever. I just pulled it through. It didn’t hurt, but I now have a very ugly scar. I’ll get it done again once I loose my belly fat. Now whoever reads this and thinks it’s GOD punishing me for piercing my naval you’re an idiot!!! And who are you to tell anyone what GOD is doing.

Answer #6

it could most def be infected. but the fact that its pruple with out puss yet..is somewhat leaning me towards brusing of a internal nerve, allergic reaction to the new opening or ring, & or a consequence of im proper cleaning of the belly button. either way it needs serious attention. IF u are really worried. i’d go back to the place where you got it done..show them & see what they tell u to do.

Answer #7

How long has this gone on? More importantly, how long have you had this piercing? Perhaps even more importantly, is this a professionally done piercing? Navel piercings take generally 4 to 8 months to completely heal.

You shouldn’t be touching your piercing; this encourages infections because of the germs that are on your hands. It’s also advised that you not have contact with other people’s skin when you have a fresh piercing.

Fun mail me with some more details.
