Nape Piercing

I’m dead set on getting my nape pierced, for those of you don’t know what it is, its the layer of skin on the back of your neck. I just want to know if it’s worth it.

I’ve heard surface piercings aren’t meant to last a long period of time, but I just want to know how long long and if it hurts like a mofo.

Ouchhh…doesn’t it get caught in your clothes? I had trouble with regular earings… well, it’s not for me. all the luck to you however…

Answer #2

NO It can realy hurt and can cause infection and they can hit the wrong spot and you could die or have to go through surgry to get it out so I say not to.

Answer #3

a nape piercing hurts less than a nipple piercing, but more then a tattoo.

And as far as infection or your clothes getting caught, if you take care of it and dont just rip your shirt off over it, you wont have a problem.

Surface piercings can migrate, and they have more of a chance of being rejected by your body than getting infected.

and as far as ‘dying’ or ‘getting stabbed in the spine’ piercers, especially surface piercers, are specially trained so that they know what to look for in piercing, and also this is a piercing through the skin, NOT through the neck. it isnt like theyre going to stab you in with it!

I cant say I’ve had it done but it does look painful =| I havent been much help have I!? haha

Answer #5

I got my nape piercing exactly 19 days ago :P It didnt hurt at all annd I LOVE it… but despite the fact that I wash it everytime I shower, disinfect atleast 2 times a day and put a+d ointment (because it was drying)I still think its infected (or something’s wrong with it.) I knew that your skin could reject them or that they could easily get infected but I never thought that was going to happen to mine since my navel and tongue piercings did just fine. ALL I CAN say is make sure you have a great piercer that knows what they’re doing… because other than that, everyone’s going to heal different.

Answer #6

I bet it’ll hurt… I mean it’s not like an ear piercing where they’re done just like that. It’s more like a tongue piercing. They have to stab a needle through, then put in the barbell.

And seeing that it’s somewhere you can’t see, it’s very likely to get infected.

But if you’re really deadset on it still, then go ahead.

I reccommend having someone to help you put your antiseptic on it daily, wearing shirts that go nowhere near your neck (shoulder shirts, tube tops), and keep your hair either short or up constantly.

I’ve got my nape done and im getting two more soon I love it to bits like it basically didn’t hurt at all you have to be careful though because if you dont clean it well or knock it even months after youve had it done it can start to reject it clothes dont seem to affect it at all for me though. I have a lot of other piercings including lip, nose, septum, eyebrow and most of my ears out of all id say it was about the second least painful oh and sometimes your hair can get caught in it but its more annoying then painful the piercer who did mine is lovely and I would reccomend going somewhere good because its worth it

have fun :)

Answer #11

I actually have my nape pierced. I recently got it done and I like it a lot but it definately was one of my most painful piercings. I have a lot.

Although you should know everyone is different when it comes to piercings and how long it takes them to reject, it all depends on how your body reacts to it.

Make sure you clean it a lot and keep your hair up if you get it done because I find that if I leave my hair down my hair gets caught in it a lot, which hurts a lot. To clean mine I take anti-bacterial soap and wash my hands and dry them, then I take more anti-baterial soap and lather up really good and gently cleanse around the piercing and under the balls. (be sure that if you do this you rinse under it really really well) and I have this spray called dragon mist which is really convenient that I bought at my local piercer. But if you cant find that and your neck is sore or you need to clean it you can soak cotton balls in warm water and epsom salts and put them over the balls.

Oh and just a tip, when your brushing your hair do it like you normally would but be slow and cautious around your piercing.

hope I helped !

I got my nape pierced not even a week ago, I was surprised of how NOT PAINFUL it was. It was more of a strange feeling, because you could feel the needle, excactly where it was, but it didn’t hurt anymore than a small pinch would hurt. So far, I am on my 4th day of it being pierced, It looks really good and if you take care of it well, then it won’t reject or infect, or so I’ve heard… I say go for it, it’s a fun experience!

Answer #13

no, it doesnt hurt at all. all I felt was my piercer holding the skin of my neck and thats all! its amazingly gorgeous on mostly everyone! I’ve had mine for about 3 years and im still in love with it. I say get it done…you wont regret it!
