What do I do about a nail infection that won't go away even with medication?

I’ve tried using white vinegar on it prior too using medication, as I’ve read many places that it’s a good home remedy. Nothing worked on it even the medication that the doctor prescribed me. It’s been there over a year by now.

Answer #1

cut it

Answer #2

Try clorox.

Answer #3

Use peroxide … a few times a day.

Answer #4

Use Epsom Salt And Hot Water. I think its 2 teaspoons for every 8 ounces, but look on the back of it, and soak it until the water is cold. Then repeat. The warm water and salt pull the blood to that area so the white blood cells can fight the infection. There may be some drainage from your finger and as long as you don’t manually drain it. also as colleen said you can use peroxide to pull any puss or drainage.

Answer #5

what medication did you take? if it was an antibiotic and the “infection” didn’t go away it’s most likely a fungi and actually fed off the antibiotic, look at your nails, if they are getting thicker, and lines appear looks a bit yellowish~brownish iv’e seen clear ones as well so that can also be possible…. nail fungus : http://funadvice.com/r/15v4b2jcmsd

here are some other nail related pathologies: http://funadvice.com/r/brnbeq1viqv psoriasis can also affect fingernails: http://funadvice.com/r/15v4b2jcpip

and it may also be an ingrown toenail, if possible a pic
